Post-Care for Laser Skin Rejuvenation

Congratulations on your recent rejuvenation session! Whether this is your first treatment, or your tenth- it’s very important to follow proper after care instructions.

Just like taking the proper steps to prepare for your laser skin rejuvenation is vital for successful treatment, knowing the aftercare steps- and taking them- ensures optimal results and long-term smooth, glowing skin. If you don’t follow the proper aftercare instructions provided by our team, you could risk mild to severe damage to your skin- or worse!

There are some risks associated with hair removal, as we have discussed. Common side effects include redness, swelling and mild to moderate skin irritation. More serious, but less common, side effects include blistering, scarring, and changes in skin pigmentation (either darkening or lightening).

It is important to keep the treated area(s) out of direct sunlight for a minimum of 2 weeks! If sun exposure is neccessary, it’s crucuial to use SPF30 or higher. Some side effects to exposing your newly lasered treatment area to the direct sun include blisters, burns, and scarring. These blisters and scars can lead into an infection and/or cause hyperpigmentation on the skin and put you at greater risk for infection and other concerns.

Cleanse gently with warm water and an antibacterial soap every second day for the first 7 days. On day 3 or 4, gently exfoliate to prevent any ingrown hairs or prolonged irritation.

Avoid deodorants, perfumes, scented creams and soaps for a minimum of 3 days.

Wearing soft, loose clothing helps prevent unnecessary friction that may lead to ingrown hairs and/or irritation.

Avoid baths, hot tubs, pools and saunas for the first 7 days- though you may take as many warm showers as you’d like!

Do not scratch, rub or pick the treatment area.

Keep the area moisturized by applying a thin layer of petroleum jelly, coconut oil, vitamin E ointment, aloe vera, or unscented lotion to the treatment area.

Stay hydrated! It’s an important part of the skin’s healing process.
